Heybrook lookout trail

The trail really does not waste much time and stretches the calf and achilles tendon rather well although not as well as the boot-beaten trail to Index Town Wall. Both trails gain a rather fast 1,000 feet in about a mile. The forest for Heybrook is nicer and there's a terrific view of Mt Index just out of the parking lot.

Directions: Turn on Index-Galena Road and travel 2.5 miles from Highway 2. After crossing Lewis Creek twice on signed bridges, cross Lewis Creek on the third bridge and almost immediately turn right into a large gravel parking area.
